An intense encounter against Bavaria in Hawk’s in the cup final saw us claim the title.
A fair game that demonstrated good spells of hockey from both teams. The first half saw Bavaria take majority of possession with their experience in the field. A few quick counter attacks & well rehearsed plays threatened Bavaria’s defence, but not enough to challenge the keeper.
The opportunities to score were dealt with well by Europa’s solid defence. Bavaria Hawk’s almost broke the deadlock but a clean tackle from Ashley denied their chance. A brilliant save from our keeper Aroa keeping the scoreline 0-0.
Europa started to increase the momentum & tempo after Coach Zammit & Coach Flower changed the dynamics of the game with the aim of avoiding a penalty shoot-out. Tactical play instilled during our training session began to show with great plays leading from our defence to our strikers.
Our formation changed to a 4-3-3 formation adding another striker up front to increase our opportunity of getting on the scoresheet and, it paid off. Keeping a really high line in the last quarter, the goal came from a well worked scenario where by a bouncy ball from Gayle into the D made it difficult for the defender to stop, deflected by Arianne & smashed into the goal passed Bavaria Hawk’s keeper by Kayleigh.
A huge congratulations to the team for yet again wining another piece of silverware. Thank you Buckley & Sam for umpiring our game.
To all our supporters who were at the stands cheering us on & making some noise, thank you for being our 12th player. We really appreciate it! <3
