Last Sunday saw Europa FC Ladies first hockey match of the season against a strong Presidents XI.
This was our first match of the season and one we were very much looking forward to. The Presidents XI started the game strongly and in the first quarter they took advantage of a defensive error and Riri Olivero of Hawks slotted the ball under the keeper. Presidents XI continued to play well in the 2nd quarter and some good defending from our team kept the score at 1-0 HT.
A passionate team talk and some adjustments in our formation saw us improve in the 3rd quarter and we began to play better hockey. The final quarter saw the team dominate our opponents and although we had several short corners we could not convert any of them. Full-time result 1-0 to the Presidents XI. The team battled hard throughout the game as is customary but we were just not good enough on the day. A poor performance.
We learn from this game and come back stronger for our next competitive tournament. We look forward to the start of the 9 a-side tournament next weekend.
